Detailed Description of Weaver: Beyond the Numbers, What Is a Digital Core
00:00:00
Morgan: Howdy y’all, so today we’re talking about what is a digital core and how does this solve your full-time equivalent (FTE) problems. So, one of the things I want you to think about when you’re looking at your organization, are you actually overworked or are you under leveraged?
00:00:14
Morgan: When you’re thinking about the early 2000s, outsourcing was the rage. Everybody was going to India, the Philippines, to South America, looking for those low-cost markets to leverage their work capacity to be able to do more work for less cost. In the digital native environment, that switched to something called the digital core.
00:00:37
Morgan: You’ve all heard of bots. You’ve all heard of these helpers like ChatGPT that can help do work for you. All of a sudden, you don’t need to write the script. You don’t need to write the article or create the PowerPoint presentation. Copilot does it for you. Or whenever you fill out a form, you click a button and it automatically processes 90% of that transaction based on what you submitted. That digital core, digital element, is actually becoming part of your workforce. You need to start treating it and considering it as part of your workforce. When you’re thinking about these frustrations that are going to come up all the time around your spreadsheet errors and people that are asking for another resource, part of what you need to be asking for them is, are you leveraging a digital core?
00:01:31
Morgan: Why does this not work as a digital worker? Could we invest $10,000, $20,000, $30,000 to create a technology solution once? Have a lower cost, manage and maintain, maybe $5,000 a year? And it’s a more effective investment over the long term, because we’re not paying $100,000 in salary or even in a low-cost market, a $30,000 salary every year. We have a high initial and then it drops low.
00:02:02
Morgan: One of the things that digital core really brings is, many times I think about back when I was a staff, one of the greatest feelings was I would have a whole pile of work in my inbox, and I would be really in the zone and crushing it out and being able to clear my desk and clear my to do list. These days, it doesn’t ever feel like my to do list is ever really clear.
00:02:25
Morgan: When I started leveraging the digital core and having team members leverage the digital core, all of a sudden the work started getting processed faster and I was able to re-experience that feeling of being able to clear the desk without having to have this large people organization supporting it. One of the things I want you to think about is when you’re looking at your organization, looking at those areas where you have people aggregating information, where you have people doing what we call swivel chair or office chair turn operations where they turn here and click and turn here and paste. Those are the things that are just ripe for automating and pushing into your digital core.
00:03:14
Morgan: And when you’re looking at your digital core, just like you do with your knowledge and skills and ability assessments, with your true employees being able to understand: What are our objectives of our digital core? What is our growth pattern? And how do we want to grow? So, we start with one automation in one area.
00:03:34
Morgan: But how do we build upon that? Because you’re going to build upon a foundation of knowledge on the technical side of where that information is, how to access it, and what those digital digits actually mean from an operational standpoint. So that’s just a little bit today about what is a digital core and how it can help solve your FTE problems.
